‘Unreal’, ‘Could be a big season’: Some Wolves fans amazed by player’s display in pre-season defeat

Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered a pre-season defeat on Monday to Spanish club Las Palmas – but some Wolves fans on Twitter were left raving about the performance of Morgan Gibbs-White.

Wolves continued to get some more minutes in legs with a friendly match. They ended up losing the contest 3-2, however, there were plenty of positives.

Gibbs-White, who played the second half, got himself on the scoresheet with a superb finish. The 21-year-old’s hit a low finish under the goalkeeper after latching onto a long through ball.

It looks like he could have a big role to play under new manager Bruno Lage based off the opening three games of pre-season.

The English youngster is a box-to-box central midfielder who’s shown real quality going forward.

Gibbs-White can enjoy proper breakout Wolves season

Gibbs-White has made 83 first-team appearances for Wolves since coming through the academy, but it feels like he’s still waiting for that one serious breakthrough season.

Aged 21, he looks like he’s maturing into the next stage of his career.

Lage has definitely taken a good look at him in pre-season, so surely he’ll be in his thoughts after impressing.

Gibbs-White can play in a variety of midfield positions. Also, he’s a real fan favourite who’s a local lad.
