Reported Liverpool target Timo Werner has been tipped to play at the highest level for the biggest clubs in the world, according to RB Leipzig teammate Tyler Adams, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Werner has been in superb form this season, netting 27 goals and registering 12 assists in just 36 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Since joining Leipzig from Stuttgart in the summer of 2016, Werner has claimed an impressive 88 goals and 39 assists in 150 competitive appearances, as well as winning 29 Germany caps with 11 goals scored in the process (Transfermarkt).

After his impressive display against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League last-16 first leg, he spoke of his admiration for Liverpool and his pride in being linked with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Werner – who has a £51million release clause, according to the Daily Mail – told Norway’s Viasport Football: “I know that Liverpool is the best team at the moment in the world.
“When you’re linked with that team it makes me very proud. It’s a pleasure but I know that Liverpool have a lot of good players and I have to improve myself, to learn much more things to get on this level to play there.”
Adams reckons his teammate definitely has what it takes to get to that level, being quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “People are often focused not just on his goalscoring ability but how fast he is, he’s absolutely rapid. That’s not one of the qualities that sticks out the most.
“The quality that sticks out the most is how many ways he’s able to score. He can score from the left, the right, centrally, we played him as a number ten and he was running out of the midfield and scoring goals.
“There’s just so many roles you can fit him in, that’s what makes him such a unique piece. If you’re able to score in that many different ways, you’ll be able to play at the highest level for a really long time, for the biggest clubs in the world, for the national team.
“He’s a pleasure to play with. It makes it easy playing as a midfielder knowing you can play the ball over the top and he’ll catch it no matter what. He’s a great guy and a great player.”
TBR View:
Werner has shown over the past few seasons – in particular this one – that he is a world-class forward, and as such would be an asset in the current strongest team in club football.
That he doesn’t feel he’s at the level of the Liverpool attacking trident is fair enough, given he’s still relatively young – but also implies a desire to work hard to get to their level, which is an admirable trait.
Klopp and the Anfield hierarchy will surely know what to do, and then some, in order to entice Werner to the club, and if they pull it off, they’ll have a truly spectacular talent at their service.
