Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been praised by Marine manager Neil Young, who joked the only way his side will be able to stop the Spurs ace is if he doesn’t travel for their FA Cup third-round tie.
The Northern Premier League Division One North West side stunned Colchester in the first round of the competition and then overcame Havant & Waterlooville to earn themselves a home tie against Jose Mourinho’s charges at Rossett Park.
Marine have found themselves in the media spotlight this week as many neutrals hope the underdogs, just the third eighth-tier side to reach the third round, can spring a surprise against the Premier League high-flyers.

Easier said than done, however, when you consider they’ll be up against a squad laden with quality and, in Kane, boasting one of the best strikers in world football.
The 27-year-old’s talents as a centre-forward are well known, but this season he’s been operating deeper to get on the ball and create opportunities.
Mourinho’s decision to utilise the Spurs talisman in this manner has worked wonders, registering 17 goals and 14 assists from just 25 appearances this term.
In addition, Kane’s partnership with Son Heung-min has gone to the next level, the two playing superbly in tandem and notching up goals and assists for each other by the hatful.
“The only way we’ll be able to stop Harry Kane is if he doesn’t get on the bus up here!” Young told the Evening Standard.
“When you’re analysing a football team, you look at games totally differently and I honestly hadn’t realised until doing this analysis what he brings to the party. It’s quite phenomenal.
“I’ve got a real appreciation now of what he brings to Tottenham. Ability-wise, he’s unbelievably good.”
TBR View:
It’s a cliche that gets wheeled out every January but it’s accurate – there is magic of the FA Cup as provincial, local teams playing in the lower reaches of the football pyramid can come up against some of the biggest sides in England, and by extension, world football.
This will be the case on Sunday, and even if Kane doesn’t play – Spurs are supposed to be in action against Aston Villa on Wednesday but that fixture is at risk – there will nonetheless be plenty of top-tier talent on display on Merseyside.
