West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen’s World Cup hopes are in doubt after being left out of England’s matchday squad against Germany tonight.
The 25-year-old made his international debut in June and featured in all of England’s internationals that month.
However, he was an unused substitute against Italy on Friday, and Southgate has clearly seen enough of Bowen during this international break.

Bowen’s club form this season has also dipped compared to last season.
The former Hull City player was one of only three players in the Premier League to record more than ten goals and ten assists last season.
He joined Mohamed Salah and Mason Mount in achieving that impressive feat.
However, he’s yet to score a goal or provide an assist in the league this season, as the Hammers find themselves in the relegation zone.
Bowen’s World Cup hopes are in doubt
Gareth Southgate has shown that recent form isn’t the only factor he considers when picking his squad.
Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw have both been involved despite being dropped by Erik ten Hag.
However, there are plenty of attacking options not currently in the squad that will be trying to steal Bowen’s place.
The form of Leicester’s James Maddison could put Bowen’s World Cup hopes in doubt.
Marcus Rashford also withdrew due to injury, and he too could regain his spot in the squad ahead of Bowen.

Southgate was ‘really pleased’ with Bowen on his debut, despite England’s poor result that day.
His side are without a win in five matches, making it a difficult environment for Bowen to arrive in and adapt to.
He had his ‘best performance of the season’ just before the international break in the Europa Conference League.
However, his stock has dipped since then, and Bowen World Cup hopes are now in serious doubt.
