Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune has given Steve Bruce a major boost.
Lejeune has declared himself fit to return to action with his latest social media post. Having played twice for the U23 team, Lejeune now believes he is fit to play for the first-team again.
The Frenchman has been missing since April. In a match against Crystal Palace, Lejeune was stretchered off with an ACL injury. It was the second time in recent history that he had suffered this specific injury.

But he has worked hard and battled back to fitness in just seven months. Recently, he has stepped up his recovery by featuring for the U23s. Now, he has revealed he is ready to compete for first-team spots again.
On Twitter, Lejeune told his followers: “Yesterday was the last time I played for the reserves before coming back with the group. Thank you to all my teammates, can’t wait to be back #readynow”
Newcastle fans were understandably delighted by this news. Even though the current defenders are playing well, Lejeune’s boost is more good news. Here are some tweets reacting to the 28-year-old’s fitness update.
