‘Unbelievable: Some Southampton fans amazed by star’s display in 4-0 pre-season win

Southampton recorded an impressive pre-season win on Tuesday against Championship opponents Cardiff City – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were particularly impressed with the display from Nathan Tella.

The Saints beat Cardiff 4-0 in the Welsh capital to give them some real confidence in the friendly match.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side still have games against Swansea City, Levante and Athletic Bilbao before the new Premier League season starts.

Theo Walcott, Che Adams (two) and Moussa Djenepo were the Southampton goalscorers against Cardiff.

However, 22-year-old attacker Tella received huge praise on social media after his contribution.

Some Saints fans on social media claim Tella lit up the game during his 30-minute cameo on the pitch.

The exciting winger set up two assists, along with some exciting dribbles that bamboozled the opposition’s defence.

He was in and out of the starting XI last season, but signs towards the end of the campaign suggests he’s growing in stature. Also, the pre-season is a massive chance to show his clear quality to Hasenhuttl.

There are plenty of fans who now believe he should be a starter at St Mary’s in the new season. He definitely provides them with an extra spark, so it would be great to see him get more minutes.
