‘Unbelievable’: Phil Foden now raves about Arsenal man who wasn’t signed from City this summer

Manchester City and England playmaker Phil Foden has paid tribute to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

In an interview with Amazon Prime on YouTube, Foden hailed the man he worked with when he was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City.

There is plenty of talk about Arteta at the moment, with Arsenal riding high at the top of the Premier League as the only side with a 100 per cent record.

And of course the fly-on-the-wall documentary has just finished, which heavily centred around Arteta’s attempts to rebuild the club.

Foden hails Arsenal boss Arteta

Foden said of Arteta: “Unbelievable, you know. I remember working with him closely after training on some things I needed to improve.

“I know how good he can be as a coach. He’s definitely a great coach.”

He also said he would watch the Arsenal: All or Nothing documentary, adding: “I’d be interested.

“When they did it on us, it was so good to watch, so I definitely think I will have a watch of that and see what it’s like for them and see what’s difference for us and them.”

Arteta has of course signed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from the reigning champions during a busy summer at Arsenal.

He is keen to get that professionalism and winning mentality through the door and into his side and that is something Foden knows plenty about.

Whether Arsenal and Arteta can sustain their momentum is the big question, with many expecting Foden and City to retain their title.
