Who is Manchester United’s greatest ever academy product?
It’s a question that could have a huge number of answers. From David Beckham and Paul Scholes to Bobby Charlton and Duncan Edwards, the Red Devils have produced some of the best players English football has ever seen over the years.
The Official Manchester United Podcast have asked a number of fans and experts who they believe is the best United academy product of all-time this week, and there was a range of answers.
Many said Scholes, some said Beckham and there was even a shout for Nicky Butt, but perhaps the strangest answer came from darts star, Luke Littler.
The World Championship finalist was asked who he believed was the best academy product United have ever produced, and he named Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo as potentially the two best to ever come through the academy.

Garnacho and Mainoo named as the best
Littler shared his verdict on the 19-year-old and the midfielder.
“I’ve seen quite a few young lads come through the academy but I think it has to be Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, last season Garnacho was unbelievable and this season Kobbie has come through and he’s been unbelievable,” Littler said.
Can tell he’s young
We don’t want to besmirch Littler’s footballing knowledge, but you can tell he’s only 17 years old after hearing this answer.
With all due respect, Mainoo and Garnacho are nowhere near being the best academy products United have ever produced, at least not yet.
These two have bags of ability, but they’ve only played a handful of games for the club compared to some of the bona fide legends who have come before them.
Who knows? Perhaps in 10 years’ time these two could be in the conversation, but anyone who watched the Class of 92 come through or even some of the legends of the 1960s knows that this isn’t the correct answer.
Littler is only 17, so he’s not seen too many young stars come through, so we can give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
