‘Unbelievable’: Jamie Carragher blown away by what Everton player did vs Arsenal

Jamie Carragher has told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports (broadcast on 6/12; 22:12) that Richarlison produced an unbelievable piece of skill to equalise for Everton in their win over Arsenal on Monday.

The Toffees gave their supporters inside Goodison Park something to smile about. It had appeared however, that the Gunners were set to add to the misery surrounding Rafa Benitez. Martin Odegaard gave the visitors the lead just before the break.

However, Richarlison equalised after Demarai Gray’s effort came back off the bar. And it was Gray who scored a stunner in stoppage-time in the second-half to give Everton the three points.

It was a moment of magic from Gray to settle the game. But it would appear that Carragher was just as impressed by what Richarlison managed to do for their first goal.

The Brazilian managed to loop a header over Aaron Ramsdale despite having to back peddle as the ball came back off the woodwork.

“That header is unbelievable. To be coming at him at that pace and to actually control it, because you see it comes to him now, he’s almost got to stop and almost go back a little bit,” he told Monday Night Football.

“He’s not just coming onto it in an open net, he’s going back. To then cushion that and control that over the goalkeeper – any lower, the keeper gets it; any higher, you think it’s hitting the crossbar or it’s going over – that is an unbelievable finish.”

Richarlison display shows importance of Everton having key players back

One of the mitigating factors behind Everton’s form has been the loss of their two key players during the season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains sidelined.

Richarlison also missed four games earlier in the campaign due to injury. Since his return, he has scored two and provided one assist in six. And he was very unlucky to not have at least one more goal against the Gunners.

One win will not silence all of Benitez’s doubters. But it looked to be a huge victory for the Toffees that could make a real difference heading into the festive period.
