Guglielmo Vicario has labelled Tottenham Hotspur youngster Destiny Udogie as ‘one of the best’ left-backs in the world.

Destiny Udogie has enjoyed an excellent debut campaign at Tottenham after officially linking up with Ange Postecoglou’s squad over the summer.

The Italian full-back was initially snapped up from Udinese for just £15 million in the summer of 2022 but spent the following season on loan at his former club.

It’s fair to say that Udogie has adjusted to life in the Premier League with ease and has quickly established himself as a key part of Postecoglou’s side.

And Guglielmo Vicario is certainly a fan of his compatriot, claiming Udogie is already among the world’s best left-backs.

Vicario says Udogie is one of the world’s best

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Vicario raved about Udogie and made a huge claim about the youngster’s current ability.

“We have a great relationship because we’re Italian – we spend loads of time together at the training ground,” the Spurs goalkeeper said.

“I try to push him to do extra work, maybe not just to train but also to come with me to the gym, because he’s got huge potential. He can still improve a lot.

“He’s not simply one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, but also the world. He’s only 21, so he must have the drive inside him to improve day-by-day – I try to push him.

“He’s a very good lad, an unbelievable player, and he has all the qualities to reach the top – he’s quick, he has superb technique, he’s a good defender and attacker… he has everything.”

While Udogie may not quite be world-class just yet, he certainly has the potential to become one of the best left-backs in world football.

The early signs of his Spurs career have been encouraging to say the least. The 21-year-old has managed five goal contributions in 21 Premier League appearances this term.

There were doubts over his ability to play as an inverted full-back after he arrived as a wing-back.

But to Udogie’s credit, he’s adjusted to his new role quickly and you’d imagine there is plenty more room for improvement.
