Gabriel Martinelli has heaped praise on Gabriel Jesus after Arsenal beat Sevilla in the Champions League last night.

Martinelli spoke to Arsenal’s official website after bagging a goal on his Champions League debut.

The 22-year-old opened the scoring in Seville on the stroke of halftime after he took the ball around Orjan Nyland and put it into an empty net.

But it was Gabriel Jesus’ brilliance that created the goal as he produced a turn that took three players out of the game before sliding the ball through for Martinelli.

The Brazil striker then grabbed Arsenal’s second of the evening just minutes into the second half.

Jesus cut in from the left-hand side before unleashing a brilliant effort into the top corner.

And Martinelli has heaped praise on his Arsenal teammate after an ‘unbelievable’ display.

“Big Gabi made the clearance to the other Gabi, and then he was amazing with a nice skill and played it to me,” Martinelli said. “I just waited for the keeper, looked at him, and I thought I couldn’t miss it again. It was good I scored!

“The guy is unbelievable, I’ve said it many times, he is so good and I love to play with him.

“He is a big player, he has played in the World Cup, Champions League, and big games in his career, so he helps us a lot.

“He helps me a lot, talks to me and today he was important for the team and for me as well because he gave me my assist.”

Jesus looked back to his best last night and it was his performance that helped Arsenal pick up a crucial 2-1 win.

But the £45 million man was forced off with an injury later in the game and Mikel Arteta has admitted that he ‘felt something’ in his hamstring.

It was a real shame to see Jesus limp off after putting in his best performance of the season so far.

Arsenal will certainly be hopeful of receiving some good news on that front over the next few days.
