West Ham United midfielder Flynn Downes has admitted he’s been so impressed by the club’s fans since joining this summer.

Downes was speaking to West Ham’s official website ahead of their visit to Manchester United.

The Hammers have enjoyed a very good home record this season, and are unbeaten in five at the London Stadium.

However, they’ve struggled on the road in the Premier League, having only won once against Aston Villa.

Downes admitted that he’s been impressed by West Ham’s fans since arrive from Swansea City in the summer.

The boyhood Hammers fan is living his dream right now, and has broken into the starting line-up in the last few games.

The technically excellent central midfield has really impressed David Moyes in his performances so far this season.

Downes has also been excellent in training, and is showing why West Ham spent £12m on him in the summer.

Downes impressed by West Ham fans

Speaking ahead of West Ham’s trip to Old Trafford, Downes said: “The travelling support has been unbelievable.

“On Sunday, I think it will be even better. We really appreciate the support because Old Trafford is a tough place to go, so we need all the fans with us!”

West Ham’s travelling support are now enjoying their second season in a row being able to follow their side around Europe.

They’ve already qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League with a game to spare.

It’s a competition that Downes has become familiar with, as Moyes tried to familiarise the 22-year-old with his tactics.

It certainly paid off, with Downes putting in some great performances that convinced Moyes to start him in the Premier League.

Downes will now be looking forward to hopefully being impressed against by West Ham’s fans at Old Trafford this afternoon.
