Fraser Forster isn’t a player you hear all that much about at Tottenham.
Life as a second-choice goalkeeper isn’t necessarily as glamorous as you’d think. There’s a lot of time sitting around and a lot of hard training that doesn’t ultimately end in meaningful minutes on the pitch.
However, as a second-choice goalkeeper, you have a big job behind the scenes. You have to be a great dressing room influence, and, by the sounds of it, Forster is doing that job brilliantly.
Indeed, speaking on The Official Tottenham Hotspur Podcast, Brennan Johnson has been discussing Forster’s impact behind the scenes, and he says that the goalkeeper is the unsung hero in this Tottenham squad.

Forster is Spurs’ unsung hero
Johnson spoke about the £75,000-a-week man.
“Who is your unsung hero here at Spurs? It could be a player, it could be someone behind the scenes,” Johnson was asked.
“Oh that’s a tough one, Fraser. He’s an unbelievable guy. I sit with him in the changing room and he’s the type of guy you need in the changing room, so much experience and makes the lads laugh so much. You can put too much pressure on yourself sometimes but then you look at him and he just makes you laugh. He’s just a legend,” Johnson said.
Great to hear
Being a second-choice goalkeeper is a very unique job. Basically, you have to train hard and be ready to step in without promises of getting much of a game.
It would be very easy for Forster to sit around sulking about the fact he’s barely getting a game at Tottenham, but, by the sounds of things, he’s doing the exact opposite.
Indeed, Forster sounds like he’s so happy in his current role, and it looks as though his positive energy is rubbing off on the rest of the group.
Forster may not play all that much for Spurs, but it sounds as though he’s still having a big impact on the team’s success.
