Aston Villa boss Unai Emery won’t look back on his time at Arsenal too fondly.
The Spaniard replaced Arsene Wenger at the Emirates in 2018, and he led the Gunners to the Europa League final in his very first season.
However, after a disastrous start to his second campaign, Arsenal decided to sack Emery, thus bringing an end to his 18-month-stay at the club.
Emery got his revenge by doing the double over Arsenal last season and costing them the Premier League title.
Now, CaughtOffside claim that the Villa boss wants to sign one of Mikel Arteta’s players this summer.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa want to sign Kieran Tierney from Arsenal
Kieran Tierney’s Arsenal career could come to an end this summer.
The Scot joined the club in 2019, when Emery was at the helm. He came in with an injury and took a while to get back to full fitness, but once he made his debut, he became an instant fan favourite at the Emirates.
However, injuries have been really cruel to Tierney over the years. That made him surplus to requirements at Arsenal, so much so that he was loaned out to Real Sociedad in the 2023/24 season.
Tierney is back now, but unfortunately for him, he is injured again. He missed the entire pre-season as a result and is nowhere near the top of Arteta’s pecking order.
But, CaughtOffside surprisingly claim that ‘Arteta wants Tierney to stay with the team and play an important role next season’, which is something nobody would’ve expected.
Tierney’s desire, however, is to leave, and the report claims that six teams are keen to sign him – Girona, Sevilla, Valencia, Newcastle United, his former club Celtic and Emery’s Aston Villa.
It has then been suggested that if Arsenal can’t persuade Tierney to stay, they will accept offers between £25 million and £30 million.
Tierney’s current Arsenal contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Tierney has no future at Arsenal
Even if Tierney can get himself back to full fitness and reach his best level, there is no way he is going to be able to get back into this Arsenal side.
The Scot has Oleksandr Zinchenko, Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu and even Jakub Kiwior ahead of him in the pecking order.
Unlike most of the names above, Tierney can’t play that inverted full-back role, which was the reason why he was loaned out in 2023 in the first place.
Irrespective of whether he stays or leaves, we cannot see a world in which Tierney will play any significant role for Arsenal again.
If Emery wants to sign him and is ready to pay big money, we’re sure Arsenal would welcome that offer with open arms in the coming days.
