Unai Emery personally urging Aston Villa to sign Joao Felix

According to Spanish outlet AS, Unai Emery is personally urging Aston Villa to sign Atletico Madrid playmaker Joao Felix this summer transfer window.

The West Midlanders are currently working on the sale of Moussa Diaby to Al-Ittihad and once that’s completed, they could make an official approach for Felix, who has ‘magical talent’ as per One Football.

It’s understood that Emery is the one driving Villa’s charge for the 24-year-old, who is desperate to leave Madrid this summer.

The Portugal international spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he netted 10 times whilst laying on six assists.

Barca are unlikely to bring him back to the Camp Nou despite a productive season which leaves his future up in the air.

Any forthcoming deal for Felix is expected to be an initial loan with an option to buy set at around £50m.

Benfica are also keeping tabs on his situation as they consider bringing him back for a second spell at the club.

Fabrizio Romano took to X yesterday and noted that Villa consider the deal very difficult from a financial perspective.

In other news, Matty Cash and Jacob Ramsey applauded an Aston Villa talent after the Walsall friendly.
