Arsenal manager Unai Emery believes that Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac are mentally ready to return to action against Burnley this weekend.

The duo have returned to training this week, as per BBC, and Emery provided a positive update on their state of mind ahead of the first home match of the season.

He said: “It’s good news for us. My focus is to be positive and on making sure the players are 100 per cent in their minds here. I want to help them to be with us. Above all, I want them to be able to focus on each training session and each match.

“They came back to training with us on Tuesday. Each session gives us good information – to take the decision if they’re going to be with us on Saturday or be in the first XI. But we are going to wait until tomorrow, our last training session. Am I pleased that they’re back? Of course. For us, for me, first they’re a person and second they’re a player.”

TBR’s View – Emery is right to put safety first

This is a situation that shouldn’t be happening – everyone should be safe to go to work – but it’s also great news that the pair feel ready to go back into training.

From a football perspective, they may well be behind the rest of their team-mates in terms of match sharpness and preparation but it seems as if Emery is willing to give them as much time as they need to get themselves right.
