Umut Bozuk comments must make Leicester City swoop

Back in May, it was reported by Mercato 365 that Leicester City are set to keep tabs on Nimes striker Umut Bozok this summer.

The report claimed that the Foxes were one of a number of clubs set to keep an eye on the Turkish striker after his excellent form in the French second division last season.

Now the player himself has admitted he could be on his way out of the club. Whilst admitting he was happy to stay with the club after winning promotion to Ligue 1, he was also quick to make it clear he was open to offers.

Speaking to La Provence he stated:

“I want to discover Ligue 1 with a team that will make me progress and I know that Nimes Olympique is able to.

“I have never closed the door to the possibility of stay in Nîmes now, if I have to leave, it will happen and if I have to stay, it will be done automatically.”

Bozok is also believed to be wanted by Nantes as well as teams in his native Turkey but Leicester should definitely get involved in the transfer race.

Why?

Foxes fans have got pretty used to seeing a fierce striking sensation in the form of Jamie Vardy. Truly ruthless in front of goal, the England international has been a revelation since coming up from non-league football.

Bozok has had a similar journey and is a similar player. After time in amateur football with Metz B, where he scored 13 goals in 22 games in 2015-16, he moved on to third-tier side Consolat. There, he scored 18 goals in 34 games. That attracted the attention of Nimes, where he has simply continued to fire away.

He has scored 25 goals in 38 games for the club this season, as they won the Ligue 2 title.

Bozok is a hard-working terrier-like striker. Constantly closing down opponents he has a hunger similar to that of Vardy. But his main quality is his finishing. Ice runs through the 21-year-old’s veins, as evident by his 56 goals in 95 games over the past three seasons. Add in his three goals in four Turkey under-21 appearances and you soon realise what Bozok gives you.

The French-born attacker is a goal-machine and whilst Vardy shows no signs of slowing down, he will turn 32 during next season’s play.

Bozok genuinely has the ability to be his long-term replacement if Leicester can get in there now and snap up an absolute bargain.
