Aston Villa dipped into the loan market in January to sign Tyrone Mings from Bournemouth on a temporary arrangement.
And the dominant centre-half has been a revelation, shoring things up for Aston Villa at the back and leading them from mid-table obscurity into play-off contention.
With Mings and Kortney Hause, Aston Villa have found a reliable centre-back pairing and the two players are proving their parent clubs wrong.
Mings was completely out of favour at Bournemouth, who seemed to think he was not quite Premier League standard.
But the ex-Ipswich Town man has been so impressive that Southampton are now in the hunt for his signature, as per the print edition of The Mirror via HITC Sport.

Mings is proving his credentials in the Championship with strong performances from central defence for Aston Villa.
In nine Championship games, the left-footed 26-year-old has made 12 tackles, 12 interceptions and 44 clearances, as well as winning 20 aerial duels (Who Scored).
Mings can also play at left-back and his 6ft 5in frame makes him an aerial powerhouse as well as a ball-playing defender.
If Aston Villa go up, Mings must be one of their priorities in the summer transfer window on a permanent deal.
But he has proven he could also be a shrewd purchase for Southampton after thriving in the second tier and showing he can step up.
