Tyreece John-Jules joined a number of Arsenal fans in expressing his delight for Bukayo Saka after the winger was handed his first England call-up.
It will come as no surprise to Gunners supporters that Saka has been included in Gareth Southgate’s squad. In fact, the only shock is perhaps that the call-up did not come sooner.
Saka was outstanding for Arsenal last season. He scored four goals and contributed 11 assists in all competitions. It is a remarkable return for a player who only turned 19 last month.
His omission during the last break was particularly startling. Southgate seemed to pick no left-sided player for the games with Iceland and Denmark.
Kieran Trippier was handed the task of playing on that side of the pitch. But there were mixed fortunes for the right-back across the two games.
That appears to have influenced Southgate this time around. Saka has been included for the first time as the Three Lions prepare to face Wales, Belgium and Denmark.
Unsurprisingly, plenty of Arsenal fans have taken to social media to heap praise on Saka and congratulate him on the call-up.
And they were joined by John-Jules. The Arsenal youngster – who is currently out on loan at Doncaster Rovers – expressed his pride for his teammate.
Here is John-Jules’s tweet followed by some of the reaction from Arsenal fans…
