Leeds United came within an inch of getting a result away at Chelsea despite huge injury issues. Tyler Roberts has responded to a Chelsea fan on Instagram, after a claim was made about Leeds fans.
Roberts, 22, lead the line for Leeds for a second consecutive game on Saturday afternoon โ with Patrick Bamford now sidelined with a hamstring issue. He was excellent again, getting himself an assist.
After Raphinha had opened the scoring from the penalty spot, Chelsea scored goals through Mason Mount and Jorginho. But Leeds looked to have got a point when Roberts crossed for teen Joe Gelhardt.
However, in the 94th minute, Mateusz Klich conceded a penalty against Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho stepped up. Heartbraking for Leeds and their fans, who were excellent throughout the game.
A Chelsea fan even Tweeted saying he could hear Leeds fans above the Chelsea supporters, despite Leeds losing. Roberts responded to him, heaping praise on Leeds fans with a post on Instagram.
Roberts replies to Chelsea fan: Leeds supporters get behind their team
Despite comments from pundits about potential rifts between player and management, second-season syndrome and burnout โ Leeds fans know that their club have what it takes to stay up.
Leeds have a huge number of injuries. Liam Cooper, Bamford and Kalvin Phillips are three of their most-important players, and all picked up hamstring problems at Brentford.
Leeds have the tools to get out of the relegation scrap, but fans know they will need to back them more than ever in order to do so. Roberts is right, with his nine-word verdict.
