Tyler Roberts makes claim about Leeds teammate Raphinha
Tyler Roberts has suggested that Leeds United produced a steal when they signed Raphinha last year, insisting that the winger is now worth a lot of money – in comments reported by The Sunday Mirror (21/2; page 64).
Raphinha seems to be establishing himself as the talisman of Marcelo Bielsa’s side. He has already scored four and contributed five assists in the Premier League.
The Whites were beaten on Friday night. But the 24-year-old – who cost just £17 million – did all he could to create the opportunities to get the side back into the game.
And following the result, Roberts suggested that Leeds can be incredibly grateful to have Raphinha in their ranks.
“I think Raphinha’s definitely a steal,” he said, as reported by The Sunday Mirror (21/2; page 64). “In training you can just see straight away he’s a typical skilful Brazilian player. But his work ethic as well is outstanding, and it goes so well in our team.
“We are lucky to have him and I think he’s worth a lot of money. He’s definitely a great player and I enjoy working with him and playing with him.”
Keeping Raphinha – who earns £28,000-a-week, according to Tuttomercatoweb – is not going to be easy for Leeds. He seems to be developing at an incredible rate.
And his admirers may be wary of holding off on a potential move with Leeds making a hugely encouraging return to the top flight.
Should Leeds and Raphinha continue to grow at their current rate, the Whites could be in a fantastic position in the coming years.
But it seems incredibly unlikely that clubs will not ask about him this summer. Leeds would therefore, make a huge statement if he remained in their ranks for next season.
