Tyler Roberts display discussed by Leeds fans on Twitter after Chelsea loss

Tyler Roberts has been lauded by a number of Leeds United fans on Twitter after his performance for the Whites as they suffered an agonising defeat in their Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side left Stamford Bridge without a share of the points. But they certainly managed to give the champions of Europe a real scare.

Raphinha had given the Whites the lead from the penalty spot during the first-half. However, Chelsea would then score either side of the interval to turn the game around.

But Leeds – who were without the likes of Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford – were not done. Joe Gelhardt scored his first ever Premier League goal late on to level the score.

Unfortunately, there would be one more cruel twist. Mateusz Klich made a clumsy challenge and gave away a soft penalty, and Chelsea were able to bag a winner.

Understandably, the mood amongst Leeds fans on Twitter was sombre at full-time. But there were also plenty of reasons to be positive. And the performance of Roberts was certainly noted as one positive from the loss.

The Wales international has enjoyed a decent run in the team of late. He has started Leeds’ last three games in the top-flight, scoring in the draw with Brentford.

He won plenty of plaudits for that performance. And he has received a lot of credit on social media following Saturday’s game.

Many have suggested that he has proved them wrong with his displays. He has caused a number of problems in the final third with his willingness to run with the ball or stretch defences with his movement. Also, no Leeds player won more tackles than Roberts, according to Whoscored.

Roberts scored against the Bees. And it was his superb cross that was turned in by Gelhardt to stun Chelsea.

He is certainly proving that he has a role to play in the Premier League. In fact, it would be difficult to argue with those who believe that Roberts is playing the best football of his career right now.
