Eddie Nketiah scored on his debut for Leeds United on Tuesday night as the Whites comfortably saw off League Two side Salford City 3-0 – and the new Leeds ace gained praise from Tyler Roberts and West Brom star Grady Diangana.
Nketiah, who wore the number 14 shirt, started up front in place of Patrick Bamford at the Peninsula Stadium. Marcelo Bielsa made seven changes from the draw at Nottingham Forest, but it did not affect the result.
England Under-21 international Nketiah, who joined Leeds on loan from Arsenal on deadline day, got on the end of a superb flowing move that saw two excellent passes from Jamie Shackleton and Helder Costa find Nketiah.
Nketiah posted on Instagram after making it one in one while Leeds progressed to the second round where they will take on Stoke City at Elland Road. Crocked Leeds star Roberts and West Brom loanee Diangana reacted.
Now, Marcelo Bielsa has a selection dilemma. The Whites take on Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium in their fourth game of the season, which have resulted in two wins and a draw so far.
Does the Argentine start Patrick Bamford, who struggled against Nottingham Forest last weekend and missed a one-on-one chance against Salford – or does he bring in Arsenal loanee Nketiah?
Time will tell, as Leeds look to continue their strong start to the campaign with a second three points.
