Tyias Browning is likely to feature for Everton in tonight’s Checkatrade Trophy clash with Oldham Athletic.
Browning will be in action at Boundary Park hoping to impress but his future at Everton looks bleak.
The 24-year-old has failed to nail down a regular spot in this Everton side and is down the pecking order.
Marco Silva usually deploys Kurt Zouma and Michael Keane together.
And with Phil Jagielka, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate also available, Browning’s chances of getting any first-team action are slim.
Browning can also fill in at right-back but Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny have that department covered.
Consequently, he needs to seek a move away from Goodison Park in January, either on loan or permanently.
The former England under-20 has previously spent time on loan with Wigan Athletic, Preston North End and Sunderland.
And it seems like the Championship is his standard as he has impressed at that level before.
Browning gets very little chance to showcase his defensive ability at senior level nowadays, despite being far from a youth player anymore.
But tonight, he must show that he can deal with League Two side Oldham and earn himself a move away in January.
Securing a January exit is vital for Browning at this stage of his career.
