Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil continues to be linked with a move away from Spurs in the January transfer window.

The Tottenham talent has struggled for game time under Ange Postecoglou and several clubs seem to be keen on his services.

According to the Daily Mail, a new name has emerged as a potential suitor for Gil, namely Nottingham Forest.

The report covered interest in the Spurs ace from Brighton, who are apparently in talks with Tottenham over the 22-year-old.

However, Forest are now apparently also keeping tabs on Gil, who is ‘attracting interest’ from the two-time European Cup champions.

Tottenham winger Bryan Gil struggling for game time

Gil has made just 10 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham this term, of which just two have been starts.

He missed eight games at the start of the season due to a groin problem that required surgery. However, he hasn’t been able to force his way into the Spurs team thereafter.

Gil has made just four starts in the league for Spurs since joining from Sevilla for £22million in 2021. He has been sent out on loan to Valencia and back to Sevilla in that period.

With that in mind, a loan move is probably the best thing for Gil to get first-team football between now and the end of the season.

The Daily Mail report noted that Brighton are looking to sign the Spaniard on an ‘initial’ loan, suggesting they may be after an option or obligation to buy.

Let’s see what happens in the coming days. Gil is a talented player, so it’d be a shame to see him leave on any kind of loan-to-buy deal.

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts called Gil a “little superstar” in his early days at the club, testament to his talent and glimpses of quality he has shown at Spurs.
