Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Benfica left-back Grimaldo. A Bola is reporting that Tottenham are one of several teams, including North London rivals Arsenal, interested in the Spanish defender. The report claims the former Barcelona youth product could be available for around €40 million (£34.5 million).
Tottenham are certainly in need of a new left-back, with Danny Rose in decline and Ben Davies not at the level necessary. Grimaldo is one of Europe’s top left-backs and it would certainly be a deal Tottenham would be pleased to make happen.
However, Tottenham fans have probably got Deja-vu regarding a deal for Grimaldo.
The North London side have been linked with the player on numerous occasions in the past.

In July 2018, Record reported that Mauricio Pochettino has £27 million put aside to make a deal happen for the defender.
That rumour rumbled on but nothing ever came to fruition and most Tottenham fans are therefore likely to be skeptical about the most recent suggestion.
Another reason to doubt the A Bola report comes from Arsenal’s presence in the apparently interested column.
Considering that Tottenham’s rivals spent a reported (Forbes) £25 million on the Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney in the summer it would appear that they would not be interested in Grimaldo on top.
So for now, it seems Tottenham fans should wait and see if there are any more developments before getting excited about an exciting new left-back.
