Viktor Gyokeres has finally joined up with his new teammates, but some of them have already welcomed him to Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta has finally secured his desired number nine with Viktor Gyokeres arriving at Arsenal earlier this week.
Gyokeres made his Arsenal debut in the Gunners’ 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday as he came off the bench in the 77th minute.
The Swedish international has now been speaking about the weeks leading up to the move and also about the players who immediately messaged him after joining.

Martin Odegaard and Ben White contact Viktor Gyokeres
Gyokeres has revealed that both Martin Odegaard and Ben White reached out to him after he completed his move to Arsenal.
White and Gyokeres played together during the striker’s brief spell at Brighton and Hove Albion, which didn’t quite go to plan.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s captain welcomed the new signing to the club, and Gyokeres joked about Odegaard assisting him when the Norwegian asked him about anything he needed.
When asked about whether any of his new Arsenal teammates messaged him following his move, Gyokeres told WTV: “Yes, a few. So it’s been nice to hear a bit from them. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone on the team and getting to know them even better.
“I played with Ben White at Brighton, so he’s been in touch, and then Martin Odegaard has been in touch as captain. So it’s very nice of them both.”
The striker has now joined the rest of the squad in Hong Kong, with Mikel Merino’s welcome particularly delighting the Arsenal supporters.
The 27-year-old made his debut for the Gunners on Thursday in what should be the first of many games for the North London side.
Arteta was happy with Gyokeres’ display, telling the media: “I am really happy to have them here (Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera). I think they are going to add a lot of value. You see straight away the energy and the quality they are going to bring.”
Viktor Gyokeres’ debut gets great reception from Arsenal fans
The Swede will have been delighted with the reception that he got when he entered the field at the Kai Tak Sports Park.
Arsenal supporters dominated from the stands, with fans from all over Asia visiting to catch a glimpse of their favourite players and their new number 14.
The Gunners’ fans inside the stadium certainly made the striker feel welcome as they generated an incredible atmosphere as he entered the pitch.
Gyokeres managed just two touches in his first appearance in Arsenal colours in the 14 minutes he was on the pitch.
