Celtic have had a bid for Caleb Ekuban accepted, and the Trabzonspor striker will undergo a medical with the Hoops this week, according to a report from Turkish outlet Haberturk.

Neil Lennon has managed to bring in Albian Ajeti already this summer. However, it appears that the Bhoys are looking to strengthen their options further during this window.

According to Haberturk, Celtic have seen a £7.2 million bid accepted. And Ekuban will reportedly travel to Scotland for a medical in the coming days.

The report notes that Trabzonspor boss Eddie Newton asked Ekuban to stay. However, he is now expected to join the Bhoys.

TBR View: Celtic adding another striker looks surprising

It will be interesting to see whether the reports prove to be accurate. Lennon already has four forwards to pick from, and three of them have all opened their accounts for this season.

So, unless Celtic are going to move one of the quartet on this summer, it is perhaps surprising that the champions have their eye on another forward.

Admittedly, the Ghana international can play in a slightly deeper role or even out wide. So he offers versatility. And he has scored 18 goals in all competitions since moving to Turkey, initially on loan.

But given that he has not been particularly prolific and Celtic already have an impressive group of attacking players, it would be little surprise if some fans had their doubts about whether the club were indeed about to pay around £7.2 million for the 26-year-old.
