Troy Parrott surely now has massive Tottenham chance

Tottenham can’t make any new signings for the upcoming season after the transfer deadline on Thursday, which should be music to the ears of youngster Troy Parrott.

There is of course the option to bring in a free agent, but Spurs seem fairly pleased with the business they conducted this summer.

They have bolstered the midfield with Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon, while Jack Clarke returned to Leeds United on loan after signing.

Parrott must feel like he’s hit the jackpot after seeing Spurs sign no new strikers.

The 17-year-old academy prospect is surely in line for a first-team role this campaign due to a lack of options and senior manager Mauricio Pochettino must have faith in him.

Harry Kane will obviously be the first-choice striker, while the likes of Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son can drift into central roles if required.

But it’s upcoming teenager Parrott that looks the natural understudy to Kane and surely opportunities will follow.

The Irish centre-forward has impressive in pre-season with first-team appearances and is someone that does look mature beyond his years.

He’s got great movement around the box and an eye for goal, so Pochettino may have felt this campaign was the right time to draft him in.

Parrott is yet to make a first-team debut in a competitive game, but it looks like that is imminent and it’s excellent news for him on a personal level that the summer window is now shut.
