Liverpool have some of the best defenders in Premier League history on their books right now.
Virgil van Dijk may be the best centre-back the league has ever seen, and the same could be said about Andrew Robertson at left-back.
Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back may well be one of the best full-backs in the history of the game at the age of just 25.
Troy Deeney has now had a go at ranking some of the very best defenders in Premier League history on his TikTok page, and he’s made an interesting claim about Alexander-Arnold in the process.
Indeed, the former Watford striker put Alexander-Arnold in at number eight in his ranking of Premier League defenders from the selection he was given.

Alexander-Arnold ranked behind the likes of Marcel Desailly, but he was put in ahead of Tottenham legend, Ledley King.
Deeney says that Alexander-Arnold is better than Ledley King, and while they are two very different players, it’s hard to disagree here.
Indeed, Alexander-Arnold, at the age of 25, has already achieved way more in the game than King ever did.
He’s broken all sorts of assist records from right-back, while he’s also won every trophy there is to win at club level.
King was, of course, the better pure defender, but in terms of who the more talented player is, Deeney may be spot on here in his view that Alexander-Arnold is ahead of the Spurs legend.
Unfortuantely, we never really got to see the best of King due to his repeated knee injuries hampering his career, but, luckily, Alexander-Arnold has managed to stay largely injury free throughout his career and he’s well on his way towards legendary status at Liverpool.
Make no mistake about it, Alexander-Arnold is already one of the best defenders the Premier League has ever seen.
