Troy Deeney says something worrying is happening at Arsenal and it’s being ignored

Arsenal lost 1-0 to West Ham at the weekend, seriously denting their title chances.

Arsenal were poor against West Ham, and Martin Odegaard was heavily criticised after the match.

However, perhaps the most concerning thing for Arsenal this weekend emerged after the game.

Indeed, after the West Ham victory, Tomas Soucek admitted after the game that he’d heard some information about the Arsenal team before the match.

“Honestly, we had some good information that we were told he was going to play as a striker. We had some secret information from Arsenal, it wasn’t about him, but we thought he was going to play,” Soucek told TalkSPORT after the game.

Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Troy Deeney has been discussing these comments, and he’s surprised that more hasn’t been made of this.

Troy Deeney discusses Arsenal leaks

Deeney spoke about Soucek’s comments, claiming that it looked as though the Arsenal team had been leaked.

The pundit says that this issue is being brushed under the carpet, despite the fact a similar story at Manchester United has been headline news recently.

“But also no one’s talking about the fact that Soucek seems to suggest to Mr. Crook that they already knew the team. And that’s about to be brushed under the carpet. But when that was happening at Man United, there was a full inquiry and this can’t happen,” Deeney said.

“Hold on a second. Are you suggesting that there’s leaks in the Arsenal dressing room? Quick, can we get someone to send an email saying that if it’s leaked, that would be considered gross misconduct,” The host said.

“People don’t think that that’s a big thing, but if you’re going into that game with Graeme Potter, and let’s say you find out Thursday or Friday, your whole, the way you change training on Friday night and what you do in the meeting on Saturday morning is so much easier because you’re like, right, they can’t really run in behind there, get a higher line than we probably would do,” Deeney said.

Mikel Merino stats vs West Ham

West Ham were ready and prepared for Merino to start up front on Saturday, and perhaps that’s why they were able to deal with the Spaniard so easily.

Indeed, while Merino earned huge plaudits for his showing against Leicester last week, he was completely ineffective against West Ham this time around.

Merino looked lost playing as a striker against West Ham, and his stats show just how poor he was.

The Spaniard was barely able to make a mark in this game, and that may be because West Ham had time to prepare a plan for how to stop him.

Soucek says that West Ham had received information from Arsenal to about their team before the game, and these sorts of leaks do need to stop if Arsenal are going to stand any chance of catching Liverpool.

Arsenal need to find a way to halt any of this sort of information getting out.
