Troy Deeney has told TalkSPORT that he thinks Arsenal will win Sunday evening’s North London derby against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur despite a contrast in form between the two sides – going into Sunday’s clash.
Tottenham returned to the top of the Premier League with a 0-0 draw against Chelsea, after Liverpool failed to beat Brighton on Saturday. Spurs have lost just two of their 18 games this season, remaining unbeaten in their last nine league outings.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are struggling. While they have won all four Europa League group games, Mikel Arteta’s men are failing to live up to expectation in the Premier League – picking up just one point from their last three games.
That came in the form of a draw with Leeds in which they were lucky not to lose, while Wolves and Villa have beaten the Gunners. Deeney, though, went against form when predicting Sunday’s derby – backing a 2-1 win for Arsenal.
“Everything is saying Spurs,” Watford skipper Deeney said on Monday morning. “But Arsenal do this… they will get a result. Especially in the derby they will get a result. So I am going to go 2-1 Arsenal.”

TBR’s view – Arsenal have got it all to do
Mikel Arteta spoke after the 2-1 defeat to Wolves, confirming that summer signing Thomas Partey will miss the next few games – which is a big blow for the Gunners. Not only that, but Arteta’s strikers are misfiring.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a shadow of the player prior to his new contract. Alexandre Lacazette is struggling for momentum, Nicolas Pepe is banned for the next two league games and Willian is yet to recapture his Chelsea form.
If The Gunners are to win, Aubameyang needs to get back to his best, Willian needs to shine in Pepe’s absence and Arsenal’s midfield need to be able to sparkle in Partey’s absence – something they failed to do against Wolves.
