Kieran Trippier might be out injured at the moment but impact at Newcastle has already been felt as the Toon continue to pick up results in the Premier League.

Newcastle managed to bring in Trippier from Atletico Madrid in January in what was seen as a marquee signing by some onlookers. The former Spurs man clearly tempted back to England by the project – and finances – of the now cash-rich Magpies.

But in terms of the Premier League, Trippier is remembered mostly for his time with Tottenham. Despite making more appearances for Burnley overall, Trippier still played more than 100 games for Spurs. Couple that being a regular for Atletico Madrid and 35 England caps, and it’s safe to say ‘Tripps’ has plenty of big-time experience.

And in those big games, Trippier has played with and against some fine players. However, despite the plethora of names he could probably reel off, it is former Tottenham favourite, Moussa Dembele, who the Newcastle right-back regards as his favourite player. During a Q&A on his Instagram, Trippier confirmed the Belgian as his ‘GOAT’.

Dembele, lauded as a ‘genius’ by Mauricio Pochettino, is widely regarded by Tottenham fans as one of the most underrated midfielders in Premier League history.

Sold by Pochettino in 2019, Dembele recently announced his plans to hang up his boots in 2022.

TBR’s View: Dembele Had It All, Even If The Stats Don’t Say So

Moussa Dembele was one of those players who seemed to just glide through games and control them with ease.

Trippier is not the first person to sing his praises either. In fact, most ex-Spurs teammates will often speak so highly of the midfielder. And he did have it all really. Strength, poise, grace, and an elegance on the ball not many midfield players can lay claim to.

This recognition from Trippier won’t be the last time we see Dembele mentioned, that’s for sure.
