Trippier issues verdict on Harry Kane form for Tottenham this season

Kieran Trippier has told The True Geordie Podcast that Harry Kane is most professional player he has worked with, and suggested that the Tottenham Hotspur star has not got anything like the credit he has deserved this season.

Kane has 18 goals in all competitions for Spurs. His form of late has been absolutely outstanding. However, some will tell you that he has only been excellent in the last few months.

Of course, he made a slow start to the campaign after a summer in which he was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City. And the goals did not immediately come for Kane while Tottenham were being led by Nuno Espírito Santo.

However, his performances for much of that spell were a lot better than many were seemingly giving him credit for. Certainly, Trippier believes that Kane did not deserve any of the criticism that came his way during the opening months of the campaign.

“H is the most professional player I’ve ever played with. It didn’t happen in the summer, but he’s one of those who isn’t going to throw his toys out the pram,” he told The True Geordie Podcast.

“People look at his goals, but when he doesn’t score – like when the media was on his back – people need to look at how he brings Sonny in to play when he drops deep and plays diagonal passes, he’s such a good player.”

Tottenham finishing in top-four looks imperative as doubts over future of Kane emerge again

Tottenham currently look to be underdogs in the race for the top-four. They are seventh, six points off right now. However, they do have three games in hand over the two sides above them.

It does appear to be imperative that Tottenham do finish in the top-four with doubts over the future of Kane starting up again. He is reportedly 50/50 about staying after their FA Cup exit.

Missing out on securing Champions League football would surely a big blow to their hopes of keeping the striker. And it may be a similar story with Antonio Conte.

Kane is playing some of the best football of his career right now. And he may not be particularly keen to spend any longer in one of Europe’s less prestigious competitions.

Boosting their hopes of keeping Kane and Conte would certainly be a huge prize for Tottenham should they manage to catch Arsenal in the final months of the season.
