Trevor Sinclair tells Manchester City to sign Erling Haaland over Harry Kane

Former Manchester City winger, Trevor Sinclair, has said he believes signing Erling Haaland would be better for the club than moving for Harry Kane.

The Premier League champions elect are on the lookout for a new striker after confirming this week that Sergio Aguero will leave the club.

Naturally, the top names in world football are being mentioned, with Kane and Haaland leading the charge it seems.

But speaking to TalkSport yesterday, Sinclair, who enjoyed a good spell with City, believes Kane’s age and injury record means Haaland is the more ‘exciting’ signing for City overall.

“I think Harry Kane is a proven, top goalscorer. World star, so good at what he does. But look at his age, look at the injuries he’s had,” Sinclair said.

“Like Aguero, I think if you go and sign another player who’s had injuries (like Aguero), then you’re asking for trouble. I just feel it’s a more exciting proposition to sign Erling Haaland.”

Both Haaland and Kane have been in fine form all season. However, there is a hefty age gap, something City and other suitors for the pair will no doubt be taking into consideration.

TBR View: Sinclair is right, but Harry Kane would score bucket loads at City

Sinclair makes a good point in fairness to him here. Both are top players but Kane has had issues and in his late 20s, has less to offer.

Haaland would appear a smarter investment at similar money. The reality is, City could have a new Aguero with Haaland, such is the potential in the Norwegian.

City face a big decision this summer but they do seem intent on adding someone. For City fans, it’s certainly an exciting time.
