Former England midfielder, Trevor Sinclair, has piled the praise on Manchester City star, Riyad Mahrez, after the Algerian yet again delivered in midweek.

Mahrez has upped the ante this season for City and got the winning goal in midweek at PSG, giving Pep Guardiola’s men a slender 2-1 lead heading into next week’s second leg.

After signing from title-winning Leicester City, Mahrez has gradually built himself up to be one of City’s most important players. And Sinclair, speaking on Talksport today, believes the Algerian wizard is proving himself more and more.

“He twists players up so much. He’s quick, he chops them up. He’s got great awareness when he’s on the ball,” Sinclair said.

“And I think his end product has been better. He obviously got the goal the other night, he fancied it, despite the poor wall. But his form has been scintillating and he is turning into that world-class player we all thought he could be at Leicester.”

Mahrez’s form is backed up by his impressive goals and assists tally. He’s hit 12 goals in all competitions while laying on a further seven, which could arguably be more if City were that bit more clinical at times.

TBR View: Sinclair is right, Mahrez is world-class

Some players seem to just keep upping their levels and Mahrez is one of those players. His touch, technique, and the way he influences this Manchester City side is something else.

Against PSG, he proved himself on the biggest stage and was a thorn in their side throughout. If it wasn’t for others been so influential, then Mahrez would probably be in line for the player of the year award. He’s been that good.
