West Ham United lost to the Premier League champions Liverpool last night despite putting up a brave fight at Anfield.
The Hammers took the lead through Pablo Fornals only for a controversially awarded penalty to be dispatched by Mohamed Salah, who David Moyes felt dived for the decision. Diogo Jota then scored the winner after he saw a previous effort disallowed for a foul by Sadio Mane on Angelo Ogbonna and/or Lukasz Fabianski.
It was a tough loss to take in the end for West Ham, who did give Liverpool a run for their money for much of the game.

Indeed, as far as one former West Ham player was concerned, it would have been a different result if a particular player was fit for the Hammers.
Trevor Sinclair, who spent five years at Upton Park, suggested that West Ham would have taken the win had Michail Antonio been fit.
Antonio has been in fine form for West Ham under David Moyes but has unfortunately picked up a hamstring injury that should rule him out of action for up to a month.
His replacement Sebastien Haller simply did not apply enough pressure to Joe Gomez and Premier League debutant Nathaniel Phillips and West Ham undoubtedly missed the pace and strength that Antonio brings to their frontline.
Whether the result would have been different had Antonio been fit is up for debate, but West Ham fans will no doubt think he would have posed more of a threat to the Liverpool defence.
