Trevor Sinclair backs Mauricio Pochettino to turn Tottenham’s season around

Former West Ham midfielder Trevor Sinclair has backed Mauricio Pochettino to get Tottenham out of their current slump after being knocked out of the EFL Cup by Colchester.

The penalty shoot-out defeat to the League Two outfit was the nadir of a season during which Pochettino has seemed restless, but Sinclair – as per TalkSport – has said the Argentine can turn it around.

He said: “I’ve heard the fans; not happy, he’s got to go, it’s gone stale. I go the other way a little bit. There’s going to be a mass exodus of players? I don’t think so.

“I think Pochettino will turn it around and I hope he does. If anybody saw his speech after the semi-final win, it shows you he’s a genuine guy, who cares about the players, the club, he’s a great leader of men. He’ll prove his worth.”

TBR’s View – Pochettino is the man to turn it around but something needs to change at Tottenham

Too many of Tottenham’s players look unsettled and perhaps Daniel Levy is to blame for not getting those off-field situations sorted, leaving Pochettino with a distracted squad.

The Argentine remains the biggest signal of Tottenham’s ambition; the man who can hold it all together. But he needs proper help and support and for his players to rally around him.

If anyone can do it, Pochettino can. He’s become used to working in less than ideal circumstances but the signs are that it’s gone too far and he needs something to change.
