West Ham secured the signing of attacker Said Benrahma on Friday’s deadline day and he joins from Championship club Brentford as a highly-rated talent that is expected to shine in the top-flight.
The 25-year-old is a trickster renowned for close technique and flair, plus he’s got a real eye for goal from long distance and is a nightmare for defenders when he’s dribbling at them.
David Moyes’ side confirmed the signing yesterday and BBC Sport explains that he’s joined on loan for £5million but West Ham have an obligation to buy for £20million, with a further £5m possible in add-ons.
Benrahma is set to take on Premier League football for the first time in his career and he’s made a name for himself in London at Griffin Park.
The left-winger was in sensational form last year despite Brentford missing out on promotion in the play-off final, scoring 17 goals and supplying 10 assists in 46 games across all competitions.
There may be some doubting if the Algeria international can make the same kind of impact on the top stage, but West Ham can draw on their recent experience with Jarrod Bowen to know there is real talent in the Championship and the pair could make quite the combination on either wing.
Ex-West Ham duo Trevoer Sinclair and Carlton Cole have both given a positive reaction to Benrahma’s arrival at the London Stadium.
Welcome Benrahma ⚒ work your socks off and showcase your magic and the fans will adore you #COYI
