Despite Trevoh Chalobah’s best efforts, Chelsea were unable to stop Manchester United from claiming three points at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.
Following Robert Sanchez’s awkward first half red card, Man United stormed two goals ahead, only to then go down to 10 men themselves following Casemiro’s dismissal.
The Brazilian’s second yellow was controversial, but United then had to galvanise to prevent a Chelsea comeback.
Of course, Trevoh Chalobah powered a header past Altay Bayindir to cause a nervy end to proceedings for Ruben Amorim, who will be grateful that his side held on.
Harry Maguire spoke about United’s issues recently, but he seemed convinced that Amorim wasn’t the problem, and in actual fact, Chelsea’s Chalobah seemed impressed by the home side as a unit on Saturday.
Trevoh Chalobah was impressed by Manchester United’s fast start vs Chelsea
Speaking to Sky Sports after full-time, Chalobah was obviously disappointed by Chelsea’s display – he confessed that it was his side’s worst display all season.
And when discussing Chelsea’s shortcomings, the English centre-back did also praise United somewhat, saying Amorim’s side were ‘up for it’.
Chalobah said: “It wasn’t good enough from us as a club, the first 15 minutes was the worst we have played all season. We struggled in the first half.
“It’s always difficult going to 10 men down. United were up for it and they put us under pressure.

“We have played in the Premier League long enough now so we just have to learn from this and move forward.
“Whether it is 10 men each, it is always difficult from 2-0 down. We need to reflect over not starting well and we need to raise our standards as a collective.”
Ruben Amorim praises Bruno Fernandes in a deeper role
In terms of United’s approach, Amorim once again decided to start captain Bruno Fernandes in a deeper role, even though Matheus Cunha was only ready for a spot on the bench after injury.
But despite being further from Chelsea’s goal in open play, Fernandes still proved his quality with a deft finish in the first half.
Paul Scholes isn’t happy with Fernandes’ positioning at United right now, a point he made very clear recently.
But speaking in his press conference after beating Chelsea, Amorim seemed pretty content with his captain in his new deeper role.
Amorim said: “He has a great spirit, he is our captain and he scored a goal playing as a midfielder so I am really happy about that!
“People don’t have good things to say about our team so I am just joking around!
“I have nothing to say to the critics and, most of the time, they are right. Today, we won and it is a good day for us.”
