Trent Alexander-Arnold takes to Twitter after breaking Guinness World Record

Trent Alexander-Arnold fired himself into the Guinness World Record book last season, as per Liverpool’s official website.

They report that the 2020 iteration of the famous publication will bear the England international’s name after he racked up the most Premier League assists by a defender in a single season – 12 last term.

He said: “It’s an honour. I’ve always wanted to go forward and help the team to create as many chances as possible. It’s obviously down to the lads to put the ball into the back of the net, because football is a team game and without them, the manager and all the support in the background, this record wouldn’t be possible.

“It’s an unbelievably proud moment for me and all of my family – and hopefully something that will stand for a few years.”

And he also took to Twitter to herald the achievement, alongside a photo where he is clearly beaming with pride at what he has accomplished.

TBR’s View – Robertson most likely to break the record in the current era

There’s plenty of healthy competition between Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson for who can provide the most assists for team-mates in this Liverpool side.

And the Scotsman is probably the man most likely to break the England international’s record, among the current crop of Premier League players.

Otherwise, Alexander-Arnold may expect to remain in the record books for quite some time.
