Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold believes Ibrahima Konate has the chance to become a “once-in-a-generation” player.

The 22-year-old joined the Reds for £36million in July last year, arriving at Anfield to much fanfare.

Liverpool boss Klopp has used Konate sparingly to date, handing him 14 appearances so far this season.

The former RB Leipzig is up against Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip for a starting berth at centre-back.

Strong competition, but Konate has shown he’s got what it takes to become one of the game’s best defenders.

On Wednesday, Alexander-Arnold sat down with Konate to discuss his inclusion in the FIFA Future Stars Class of 2022.

The Future Stars promo sees some great youngsters with world class potential receive special cards with big upgrades.

And before handing Konate’s card to him, Alexander-Arnold spoke highly of his teammate.

“He’s got potential to be amazing,” the Anfield academy graduate told the Liverpool media team.

“I’m able to see the boy every single day in training, and in games, and play with him.

“So I know that he can reach whatever level he wants to if he works hard enough.

“It’s a chance to be a once-in-a-generation player for me. He’s got that potential in him.”

When a player like Trent Alexander-Arnold gives such huge praise to a player, then you know he’s truly amazing.

Konate was one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga during his time at RB Leipzig despite his young age.

He has carried that quality to Liverpool and has done exceedingly well when taking to the pitch.

For both club and country, Konate is up against the very best in the world.

And while he may have to bide his time at Liverpool and with France, there’s no doubt he’ll soon become a regular and hit incredibly high levels.
