Trent Alexander-Arnold has joked it’s impossible to ignore Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson when he screams asking for the ball on the pitch.
Henderson, 30, is the club captain that has cemented his spot in Reds folklore for lifting both the Champions League and Premier League trophies in the past couple of seasons.
The England international is a huge senior presence in the dressing room at Anfield, while on the field he is a vocal leader as well.
He recently acted as a stand-in centre-back to help Jurgen Klopp’s depleted squad, but usually he’s a central midfielder that dictates play and lifts teammates around him.
22-year-old right-back Alexander-Arnold has joked that he feels he has to pass to Liverpool teammate Henderson whenever he shouts for the ball.
“The way he [Henderson] screams for the ball it’s hard not to pass it to him. If he screams, it’s one of them where your head automatically has to look,” Alexander-Arnold told Amazon Prime Video Sport.
Alexander-Arnold is of course making a tongue in cheek comment on Henderson, but it’s not a million miles away from the truth.
The central midfielder has proven himself to be a top-class operator in his own write, improving so much under Klopp by being consistent, energetic and composed.
But his biggest trait has to be his leadership.
He’s the glue that knits so many superstars into one team and he has the respect of them all.
There were many that doubted him in the early years of his Liverpool career, but he looks unrecognisable now.
