Liverpool youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold has the chance to impress further tonight with a solid performance against one of Europe’s most dangerous wingers.
Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne has five goals and one assist in seven Serie A matches so far this season.
He is responsible for almost half of Napoli’s goals scored tally in the league, and is looking much more dangerous than last season under Maurizio Sarri.
Last term Insigne only managed eight league goals and the winger is on course to surpass that in no time.
Playing from the left, Insigne will be coming up against Alexander-Arnold, one of English football’s brightest prospects.
The youngster has just been shortlisted as a nominee for the Golden Boy award for 2018.
A major test
Alexander-Arnold has been playing beyond his tender years so far in his fledgeling career.
He faces a very tough challenge on Wednesday though, with Insigne razor sharp at the moment.
The Italian – valued at £54 million by Transfermarkt – is diminutive and extremely difficult to keep tabs on with his movement.
His low centre of gravity makes him very hard to dispossess.
Insigne will likely mix it up against the teenager. He’ll hug the touchline at times, but also come inside to allow the full-back to overlap.
Alexander-Arnold has fared very respectably against some big names so far in his career such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Leroy Sane.
He’ll be feeling confident going up against Insigne but he mustn’t underestimate the 27-year-old.
He really does have the ability to rip people apart.
