Glasgow Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has been praised by Mixu Paatelainen, who believes the Ibrox man could be worth “anything” if he does well at the European Championships next summer.
Kamara joined Steven Gerrard’s Rangers for a reported £45,000 in January 2019 and he has made 60 competitive appearances for the Ibrox side to date, scoring two goals and claiming three assists.
Although the 24-year-old has done well at Rangers since his arrival, he has truly shone for Finland, where he is given more freedom to roam, and on Sunday, he was at his devastating best against the Republic of Ireland.

Kamara put in an assured, confident display in the centre of the park for Markku Kanerva’s side, bossing the midfield as the opposition struggled to impose themselves on the game.
He got the most touches of the ball out of anyone on his side (83) and, likewise, was the Finnish player who made the most passes (69), with a success rate of 94.2 percent.
Kamara’s efforts contributed to Finland – who will take part in the Euros next sumer – running out 1-0 winners in the Nations League clash, Fredrik Jensen netting the game’s only goal in the 63rd minute.
Paatelainen, his country’s manager between 2011-2015 and now with Hong Kong’s national team, told The Scottish Sun: “It is never easy to go to Dublin and win so it was a fantastic result.
“He wasn’t in my squads, although he was invited to a couple of our training sessions before qualifiers.
“Obviously with him being a very technical player who was at Arsenal at the time he got a very good grounding.
“He was still quite young and developing then but now he is one of the main men in midfield and does a very good job for Finland.
“In particular he is a tremendous passer of a ball and his technique his superb.
“It is difficult to put figures on anybody’s forehead. But players like that are highly valued so I wouldn’t be surprised if anything happened for him if he does well at the Euros.”
TBR View:
While Kamara has done well enough at Rangers, it was eye-opening to see just how much more effective he was when given more freedom to roam, food for thought for the Bears and perhaps for Gerrard and his coaching setup.
The Gers have enjoyed a great start to the season and, if they can take what they’ve seen from Kamara this international break and apply it to their own setup, it would surely benefit them massively.
