Spurs reportedly surge into contention to sign £42.5m maestro, Conte could get his own Kaka - TBR View
Tottenham Hotspur fans will be delighted with how their summer transfer business has gone so far.
Spurs hit the ground running, signing Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma early on.
Tottenham then snapped up Richarlison from Everton and landed Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.
And their latest signing was a culmination of hard work and perseverance, finally landing Djed Spence after weeks of talks.
But Tottenham may not be done yet, with recent speculation heavily linking them to Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo.
Tuttosport reported on Monday that Juventus were frontrunners, but Spurs had surged into contention for his signature.
Now, CMW has claimed that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte wants the 23-year-old at N17 ‘at all costs’.
The Italian outlet also spoke of a potential twist which would come as a huge boost for Spurs.
Juventus reportedly want Zaniolo too, but there is speculation about a potential ‘pact’ between the two clubs.
The Italian outlet suggests Juve could step back and allow Spurs to make their move for the player.
In return, Tottenham would clear the way for Lucas Moura to talk with – and ultimately join – Juve.
“Great technical quality”
Previous reports have claimed that Conte dreams of using Zaniolo in the same team as Harry Kane.
And this twist, if true, could well see Tottenham edge closer to the Italian’s dream signing.
Zaniolo has just turned 23, but he already has made over 100 competitive appearances for Roma.
“He has an incredible natural physique for someone who is only 19 and also has great technical quality,” Daniele De Rossi said in 2019.
“In my opinion, as perhaps with everyone now, he is already a very good player – and can become a great one.”
CMW previously reported that Roma want €50million (around £42.5million) for the Italy international.
Tottenham have already enjoyed a superb transfer window, and Zaniolo would be the cherry on top.
