Leeds United are interested in the signature of Luke Freeman, according to reports. London Football News is suggesting that Leeds are ready to make a bid for the QPR player of the season in the weeks to come.
Leeds fans will no doubt want the deal to happen. Freeman impressed against Leeds on three occasions last season. In particular, he shone when Leeds lost 1-0 at Loftus Road in February but he was also vital to their FA Cup triumph in January.
It was prior to that match that Freeman commented on the current Leeds squad in an interview with talkSPORT. He predicted how Leeds might find things tough over the winter months, a prediction that eventually rang somewhat true.
“They’ve got some unbelievable talent there. But they’ve got quite a lot of foreign players on their books who probably aren’t that experienced when it comes to Championship football.
“It’s lovely winning in August and September when the sun is out, but I thought to myself it will be interesting to see how they play in November and December time when you’re playing a thousand games a week.
“I did have an inkling they’d drop off a bit, but they’re still in a very strong position and one of the best teams in the league for sure.”
Freeman was a little misguided in his quotes on foreign players, considering Leeds only had a handful of the ‘foreign players’ he alluded to.
But Leeds fans should not dwell on those comments. Instead, it is Freeman’s talk of ‘incredible talent’ and ‘best teams in the league’ they should focus on.
It highlights the high esteem Freeman holds the current Leeds squad in and no doubt the desire to join the crew will be strong if the 27-year-old gets a chance this summer.
