Transfer target Arkadiusz Milik had a Tottenham trial when he was 16

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the running to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik in the next transfer window. Spurs were linked with a move for the Polish striker by CalcioNapoli24 in mid-March. Now, respected Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has confirmed Tottenham’s interest, along with that of Bundesliga side Schalke, with Milik set to ask for a Naples exit at the end of the season.

Milik is unlikely to come cheap. As recently reported by the Express, Napoli would be looking to cash in around €45 million (£40m) in any potential sale of the Polish hitman.

Which will certainly sting Tottenham, considering they could have signed him from Rozwoj Katowice for just £100,000.

The Mirror reported in 2015 that Tottenham had previously turned down the chance to sign a 16-year-old Milik after a trial at the club. Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham decided Milik was not needed in the Tottenham youth-team at the time, believing they had better options in their academy. Considering Harry Kane and Milik are the same age, that assertion was not exactly misguided.

Now, seven years later, it seems Tottenham will be looking to bring in Milik either as Kane’s replacement or his main challenger for the starting spot in Jose Mourinho’s attack.
