Transfer domino could see Spurs sign 21-year-old likened to Kevin De Bruyne

Tottenham Hotspur have hit the ground running in the January transfer window and there could well be more to come.

We’re just 10 days into the window and already Spurs have officially signed Timo Werner and all-but secured Radu Dragusin’s signature.

Now, depending on other moves in the market, Tottenham could potentially find themselves with a chance to sign a very talented 21-year-old midfielder.

A few weeks ago, Dean Jones linked Spurs with Ajax talent and Netherlands international Kenneth Taylor.

However, the transfer insider, writing on GiveMeSport, acknowledged that it may be a difficult move to pull off in January.

Since then, Ajax have been linked with England international Jordan Henderson, who’s reportedly looking to leave Al Ettifaq after just half a season.

On Tuesday, Fabrizio Romano claimed on X that the Dutch giants are showing “concrete interest” in the former Liverpool man.

Should Ajax succeed in signing Henderson, there’s a chance this could free Taylor up to seal a big move elsewhere this month, which is where Spurs could then come in.

Admittedly, Tottenham will need to hope that Ajax not only succeed in signing Henderson, but also agree to sell Taylor (when they could just hang on to him until the summer).

However, should everything fall into place, Spurs could get themselves one of the best young midfield talents in Europe.

At just 21 years of age, Taylor has already made 91 senior appearances for Ajax, helping them to two Eredivisie titles and a Dutch Cup.

He also has four Netherlands caps under his belt and played at the 2022 World Cup.

“Taylor’s style of play is akin to Toni Kroos or even Kevin De Bruyne,” wrote scouting outlet Foot the Ball last year. “Playing exquisite passes in dangerous areas.

“Similarly, Taylor is also a very calm head on the ball who assesses his options beforehand.

“He can run by defenders, leaving space behind, or aim for distance himself. Truly an all-around package.”

Meanwhile, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout deemed Taylor a “huge, huge talent” back in 2021.
