‘Tragic’, ‘Please no’: Some Everton fans react to reported talks with 63-cap international
Everton transfer links name Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as a target for them this summer. But, some of the club’s fans on Twitter are not happy with the news.
TalkSPORT originally claimed that Everton are looking at the Championship star as a potential target because they hope to bring in a new goalkeeper. Bournemouth will allow the 34-year-old to leave on a free transfer this summer, despite the fact he’s still got a year left on his contract.
A fresh update from talkSPORT is that the Toffees are now in talks with Bournemouth about Begovic. Any possible deal would see him sign for two years to provide cover for Jordan Pickford in net at Goodison Park. In addition, Everton manager Rafael Benitez views him as an “ideal” signing for the squad.
Everton fans frustrated by Begovic rumours
A selection of Everton supporters on social media suggest 63-time capped Bosnia international Begovic isn’t up to scratch for them.
However, his CV would say otherwise.
The experienced shot-stopper impressed for Bournemouth in the second tier last season. His side did up losing in the play-offs though.
Additionally, he’s made 252 appearances in the Premier League during his career so far.
The Merseyside club no longer have goalkeeper Robin Olsen after his loan expired, so bringing in someone else to challenge Pickford would make sense.
